Why is Freightender offering an Ocean Benchmarking platform?
We have a lot of experience with ocean rates and benchmarking is something we naturally do via our Freight Sourcing platform although more in a closed environment. As ocean benchmarking is close to our core business we decided to expand to this niche and provide a new alternative based on AI technology and affordable pricing. We believe this is an excellent addition to our ecosystem to provide more value to our customers.
Do we really need it?
It depends. Few companies are so large that they will get the best rates no matter what or have so much expertise in-house that this platform offers little additional value for them. Many others are perhaps not that big and don’t have the extensive market insights and the resources to keep track of where the market sits and what opportunities may arise to achieve savings and better rates. In general we see a strong trend of growing interest among BCOs to be better informed about the dynamics of the ocean market.
Aren’t there already different platforms who offer this?
Yes there are but there’s no platform yet which combines freight procurement, rate management and ocean benchmarking in one proprietary ecosystem. This makes Freightender unique. Next to that Freightender is offering a more affordable fee structure than other platforms in the market.
Where does Freightender get the rates from?
Customers provide their own rates and thanks to the common contribution among customers we are able to use and consolidate this data to provide a clear picture of the market rates. Customers will update rates on a periodical basis when there are updates.
